The Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster, MA on Cape Cod was the venue for this yearly event. Zasco Productions produced and managed all creative and technical aspects of the Opening Ceremonies held in a very unique setting -- a plain white tent! No overhead rigging points, limited electrical service, low clearances, and very poor acoustics were some of the challenges overcome by our talented team of designers, technicians, and production personnel. We transformed the venue into a warm and friendly setting by using colored lighting reflected off the roof surface to illuminate the tent. Other lighting features included a custom, self supported truss used to hold both lighting instruments for the stage area, and front-fill loudspeakers. Special effects included a hazer, and four Technobeams with custom gobos which created a spectacular light show synchronized to a pre-produced opening video sequence. Other video features included two 6x8 projection screens, two Sanyo PLC-9000 video projectors, four Sony DXC-325 cameras for Image Magnification, a still store, character generator, Panasonic DVCPRO decks for both recording and playback, and video stage monitors for the guests of honor.
Many pre-produced elements enhanced the show's motivational aspects, including a high-energy opening and closing video sequence produced in our state-of-the-art facility. The final "bang" in the closing video featured clips of fireworks over an American flag, and conference attendees got the full effect thanks to massive confetti cannons which showered the audience with confetti in perfect synch with the video sequence. And, for full effect, Zasco Productions audio team was definitely effective with a full tri-amped distributed sound reinforcement system. Our loudspeakers included eight distributed JBL 925 cabinets, two Community sub-cabinets, two JBL stage monitor wedges, and two JBL center fills for the area just in front of the stage, and in front of our first main cluster. Amplifiers included models from QSC and Crown. Not only did we provide heart-pounding sound for the video packages, everyone in the tent enjoyed perfect intelligibility of the speeches from the podium, and an emotional vocal performance by "Voices in Blue". The overall goal of this opening ceremony was to motivate the conference attendees, and according to many participants, we did just that!
We also provided similar services for the 1999 conference in Danvers, MA!
